  • How do I level a shuffleboard table?

Start by leveling the cabinet, then use climatic adjusters to adjust the play surface.  A typical shuffleboard has between four to six climatic adjusters fastened underneath, and these can be adjusted by tightening the nuts on the bottom.  The methods are slightly different depending on whether the table is concave (table is positioned slightly upward, like an arch or convex (table dips slightly downward, like a valley).

For a concave table, if the dip in the middle is too severe, the distance between the climatic adjusters needs to be decreased, making the table more level.  Loosen the two bolts in between the climatic adjusters, then very slowly (a couple turns for each nut) turn the outer two bolts in a clockwise motion.  After a couple of days, check the board and repeat the adjustment if necessary.

For a convex table, the process is similar but the instructions are opposite.  Loosen the two bolts on the outside of the adjusters, then slowly tighten the inner bolts, pushing the climate adjusters farther apart.  As with concave, make sure to adjust very slowly (only a couple turns per bolt) and test the board after a couple days and repeat if necessary.

  • Shuffleboard Adjustments

    Transcription:
The next things that i want to talk about that are important to a new purchase of a shuffleboard are three basic adjustments that have to be done for the leveling and the playability of the board.
One obviously is through the legs, making sure that the board is flat from side to side and through the ends.
If it's not flat, obviously the puck would slide off to one side.
Another important adjustment is what's called sway. Because the shuffleboards use leg levelers we're able to raise the ends of the board and create a sway for the play field.
This is what controls the puck's speed. Obviously, if it did not have this feature and the play field were to arch, the pucks would simply slide off the end, and you couldn't play it accurately.
The third adjustment is the climate adjusters that are underneath the play field.
That's a set of hardware put in specific places along the playing field that actually apply pressure to the wood and curve the board.
This curving of the playing field allows the puck to remain on the play field and actually puts a small curve at the end right over the scoring zone.
This is the proper way that a shuffle board should be adjusted for tournament play.

  • How to Make Shuffleboard Adjustments

shuffleboard adjustmentsWhen you've got a new shuffleboard, there are three important adjustments you'll need to make to your table to ensure optimal playing and accuracy for tournament play.

    1. Check the legs: Make sure they're level and even to avoid your puck sliding to one side.
    2. Sway: This helps control the pucks speed. You'll want to raise up the end of the table just a little bit. This keeps the pucks from coming off the end of the table for more accurate play.
    3. Climate: The hardware under the table keeps the playing surface at the right curve to keep your puck in the playing area.
You can hear more about these adjustments explained by Cris Gould in this Legacy Video.
